Voyage to Nowhere starring Neurotica Noir |
Just received Thomas Szasz's The Untamed Tongue and began skimming through it. It is filled with gazoodles of challenging entries to ponder, debate, amuse, and outrage. Within minutes, if not seconds, of opening the book, I've already found one that has captured my attention. I know there is a great amount of truth in these words (maybe 100%), but I'm curious to just how far this form of labeling extends. "Psychiatric diagnoses are stigmatizing labels phrased to resemble medical diagnoses, applied to persons whose behavior annoys or offends others. Those who suffer from and complain of their own behavior are usually classified as 'neurotic'; those whose behavior makes others suffer, and about who others complain, are usually classified as 'psychotic'." 1 comment | post a comment

Where have I been, where have I been? Taking care of business, mostly. Laid up with allergies and other little nuisances, partially. I started another blog (does this make me a traitor?) which contains personal stuff in it but is an extension of my website and a bit more business related. Actually, I started 3 (yes, three!) blogs altogether. One, though, is for my dog who whined to have her own and I can never resist her. So, with all these blogs going I no doubt will end up cross pollinating along the way - I only have so much to say. So very sorry, but none of the others are related to this one so hopefully there will be no intersecting. I guess that all makes sense....yea? 1 comment | post a comment
Once again, John Galliano has gone mad. But such inspired madness. I just love it: Going back to sleep, now. post a comment
Wow, the world went dark there for a while. I tore through my neighborhood crying out "All Is Lost, All Is Lost". Yet, here we are again, as though nothing ever happened. Perhaps it was just a nightmare. A nightmare that also included me watching "The Village" and being forced to listen to some neighbors doing what sounded like a reenactment of a scene from "Animal House". I pray I never have that nightmare again. post a comment

While I was watching "Children of the Revolution" (Judy Davis is one of the most divine actresses around) on A&E, a commercial came on for a Xmas show on some other channel that was part of their BIG 25 days of Xmas celebration. I had an immediate mind-glitch. Maybe because I pretty much missed the holiday season this year, I starting questioning what month this was. Isn't this January? I don't remember xmas so maybe it hasn't happened yet... Actually, I've had these moments before. I never keep track of the days and dates so now and again I get thrown off kilter. It can be rather fun in a confusing psychotic break kinda way. post a comment
Found a couple of interesting articles from my Style.com rss feed: This article aims more at dandies and even includes a couple of women (only two?) so the title is a bit misleading - as is the title for the second article: What NYC's Coolest People are Wearing If the majority of these folks are NYC's "coolest" then New York has become seriously lost in ho-hum land. 5 comments | post a comment |
